The most important of all, keep an eye out for phishing attacks that come through emails. Don't click on links or attachments you're not sure about.
And make sure you follow the same practices for your personal email passwords to.
Email is still one of the most common ways to deliver scams and fraud, so be constantly vigilant.
If the university has an email retention policy, make sure you're familiar with it and follow it.
Never click unsubscribe link or button in a spam email. It simply tells the spammers that the email address is good.
Focus on your email password. Follow policies, make it long, complex, and don't reuse it.
Don't send sensitive a confidential information by email, especially as an attachment, unless you have the appropriate security measures in place.
Make sure you're always using good antivirus software that will scan incoming emails.
Delete old emails and regularly clean out your Trash folder.
Keep to a minimum where you share and publish your email address. The fewer people who have it, the lower the risk.
