Data is the currency of the criminal underworld. Preventing data breaches denies them access to that currency.

Don't click on links or attachments in emails if you don't absolutely need to and trust in the sender.
Be careful with your passwords. Make them complex and original, and never share them.
Don't download sensitive data to a personal device or laptop unless you have permission to and have the right security in place.
Always dispose of sensitive data if you no longer need it.
Always be wary for any requests to share sensitive information, especially requests through email or text messages, and especially if it's not normal.
Always be aware of what kind of data you have access to, how sensitive it might be, and our rules for protecting it.
Don't take sensitive data off campus unless you need to, have permission to, and have all the appropriate security measures in place.
Don't allow others to have access to sensitive data if they don't need access or have permission to have that access.
If you come across a data breach or the loss or compromise of sensitive data, contact security immediately.
Avoid accessing sensitive data from public places using free Wi-Fi.
