Just because it’s social doesn’t mean it’s safe, secure, or smart. Always practice caution.

Always remember that criminals constantly monitor social media sites in search of information that can be used to further their attacks.

Be careful what you say and post on social media, it can live there forever.

Make sure you're using a strong and well protected password that you're not using for other accounts.

Always be wary of scams on social media, and be especially cautious of connection requests from complete strangers.

Beware of misinformation, disinformation, and fake news spread on social media.

Get familiar with the privacy and security settings of all your social media accounts and use them properly.

If possible, set all your personal social media accounts to private.

If you have permission to post on university social media platforms, please make sure you follow our rules and guidelines.

Share as little as you can about yourself, your family, and your work.

Don't use social media to disparage others, it could come back to bite you.
